RealityCheck Stay

How it works

Travellers read about ten reviews before booking a room. This does that reading for you, and throws away the parts that have nothing to do with your health.

1. Where the properties come from

Listings are real places, pulled from Google Places — 200 properties across 6 cities (Bangkok, Osaka, Taipei, Seoul, Ho Chi Minh City, New York). The rating and review count shown on each card are Google’s own, not ours. The inventory snapshot was last refreshed on 2026-09-23.

We do not show nightly prices, because we do not have a live rate feed. Prices move hourly and a stale number is worse than none. Tap See price and Agoda quotes you the live rate.

2. What the hygiene check actually reads

Tap Check hygiene on a property and we fetch its most recent public Google reviews and look for four things:

Every finding is shown with the reviewer’s own words, so you can judge it yourself rather than trust a badge.

3. What we deliberately ignore

Slow check-in. A rude receptionist. Dated furniture. Thin walls. Weak wifi. Overpriced breakfast. None of these will make you ill, yet all of them drag down the single blended score most booking sites show you.

That is the whole point. A genuinely clean, cheap hotel gets punished for a grumpy receptionist, while a dirty one hides behind a good average. We separate the two.

4. Filters the big sites don’t offer

Agoda has no filter for a private bathroom, and neither Agoda nor Booking.com lets you find female-only properties. We infer room and bathroom privacy from Google’s property type — hostels and capsule hotels are treated as shared, everything else as private. It is an inference, which is why every badge says “likely”. Always confirm on the property page before you pay.

5. Honest limits

Treat a verdict as a reason to look closer, never as a promise. If you believe a verdict is wrong, tell us and we will recheck it.
