RealityCheck Stay

Privacy

Short version: no accounts, no advertising profiles, and nothing about you stored on our servers. One third-party partner script does run — it is described below.

What we do not collect

The one third-party script

We run a script from our affiliate partner Travelpayouts, loaded from emrldtp.com. It exists so that bookings you make after leaving this site are correctly credited to us — that is how the site is funded.

Being straight about what it does: it observes clicks on the page, can read the page’s own HTML, and may set cookies of its own to attribute a booking. It is a commercial attribution script, not an advertising tracker, and we do not receive any personal data from it. Its behaviour is governed by Travelpayouts’ privacy policy. A tracker blocker will stop it loading, and nothing on this site will break if you use one.

Location, if you choose to share it

Tapping the location button asks your browser for approximate coordinates and sends them to our server once, purely to sort results by distance. They are used for that request and not written to any database. Decline and everything else still works.

What your browser stores

Your filter preferences stay on your own device in local storage. We cannot read them. Clear your browser data and they are gone.

What our server logs

Our host (Vercel) keeps standard request logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested — for a short period for security and debugging. This is ordinary web-server logging, not analytics, and we do not link it to anything.

Where hotel data comes from

Property names, ratings and reviews come from the Google Places API and stay subject to Google’s terms. Review content is cached for at most 30 days, as Google requires, and never longer.

When you leave

Tapping See price sends you to a booking site. From that moment their privacy policy applies, not ours. Your browser tells them you arrived from realitycheckstay.com, which is how any commission is attributed. We pass nothing else.

Your rights and contact

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is normally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you believe we hold something regardless, or you have any privacy question, contact us via the contact page.
